In the first half of May 2025, Western and Central Europe witnessed a noticeable decline in domestic and regional bitumen prices. The main reasons? Reduced construction demand combined with falling feedstock prices and refinery limitations. While the UK, France, and Germany saw truck prices drop sharply, other markets like Hungary and Romania held relatively steady, showing resilience despite regional pressures. This report breaks down the latest price movements and market conditions across each key region.
Fell in Truck Prices in the UK and Ireland
Truck-delivered bitumen prices in the UK fell for the second week, dropping by another $15 to $16 per ton to land between $515 to $535 per ton, following similar losses in early May. These adjustments reflect the full impact of April’s price correction.
Ongoing Decline in France
Northern and central France saw prices decrease by $7 to $9 per ton, settling between $515 to $530 per ton. Meanwhile, prices in southern France dropped significantly, around $13 to $14 per ton, to hit the $505 to $520 per ton range. Supply gaps from ExxonMobil’s Port Jerome refinery continued to affect local availability.
